From deep, personal experience and extensive professional experience, I know first-hand how devastating trauma can be. It can make us seriously doubt whether God is truly who He says He is. It can shake our belief system, deeply. But even more than this, I know from my own trauma recovery journey that God will deliver us and is set on creating a future for us that is better than anything we’ve lost. It’s not a passing thought He has, it’s a promise He’s made to us as His beloved sons and daughters. He is the God of restoration, and He is absolutely the God of redeeming hope.
This devotional is an outcome of the trauma recovery journey I’ve walked with God. It is a devotional rooted in scripture, scripture that has been carefully woven into the themes I have come to know as vital to trauma recovery – both personally and professionally. It’s a devotional that I hope will encourage restorative healing as you continue to turn towards the One who promises to bring beauty from ashes.
