Time and space to explore

This journey has given me the space to explore, investigate, and fully immerse myself in the process. I appreciated doing the research, working through the theory modules, rewatching the videos, and implementing the practical elements into action. The monthly discussions with Cands, who is an expert in the field, added great value. They gave me the opportunity to engage more deeply with the content and learn through shared insights and experience.

– Claudia Pescivolo

(TSYFT-L2, 2026 graduate)

A genuine heart for this

I enjoyed Cands’ pace, delivery and heart for this work. I enjoyed that it was also grounded in real life experience and research. As much as they stretched me, I also really enjoyed the practical components of the training. The course is well structured with many overlaps and the themes are quite interconnected.

– Esethu Nemu

(YFMH, 2025 graduate)

Insights + self-compassion

“The theory helped put many things into context, particularly the profound impact trauma can have on a person and the consequences of unresolved trauma. I have deepened my self-compassion through the insights gained during this training.

A trauma therapist’s personal guide to finding hope and peace again.

A gentle, evidence-based 6-week guided journey to support you in better understanding trauma, reconnecting with your body, regulating your nervous system and moving towards healing – one gentle step at a time.

Healing does not begin with becoming someone new.

It begins with understanding yourself in a new way. Perhaps you’ve spent a while wondering why you feel anxious, exhausted, disconnected, overwhelmed or constantly on edge. Maybe you’ve become the person who holds everyone else together. Perhaps you find yourself avoiding conflict, trying to keep the peace, shutting-down, overthinking interpersonal interactions, or reacting more strongly in certain situations than you would have liked. Perhaps you’ve even tried therapy before and have some understanding of why you feel the way you do, but you’re still really longing to actually feel different. If any of this feels familiar, you are not alone. These experiences are not signs that something is wrong with you – far from it. They are often adaptations of a nervous system that has had to work really hard to keep you safe. And while these adaptations were of course necessary once, they don’t have to define the rest of your life.

Imagine if…

📎 You understood your nervous system instead of feeling controlled by it.

📎 You recognised your triggers with gentle curiosity and calm, instead of berating yourself with self-criticism.

📎 You had real, practical tools that have already been proven to work – to regulate anxiety, overwhelm and emotional stress.

📎 You responded, rather than reacted.

📎  You consistently experienced more calm, more choice and more hope.

Healing does not mean forgetting your past. It means building a different relationship with it.

Welcome.

I’m Cands.

I’m a licensed counselor and yoga therapist that specialises in trauma and mental health.

For more than a decade I have supported individuals nagivating trauma, grief, anxiety, burnout and signficant life transitions.

Alongside my private practice, I’ve trained mental health professionals internationally in trauma-sensitive approaches and developed highly-acclaimed educational programmes that integrate counseling, neuroscience and yoga therapy.

Throughout my work, I’ve noticed something important.

Many people understand their trauma cognitively, but still feel trapped in survival mode. And that’s because trauma does not only affect our thoughts. It affects our bodies, our nervous systems, our relationships and our overall sense of safety.

This course is a culmination of my most important work. It brings together the approaches I’ve found to be most transformative in practice – combining psychoeducation, somatic awareness, trauma-sensitive yoga, reflective, mindful activities and practical, nervous sysyem regulation skills within a compassionate, patient and supportive learning environment.

My hope is that this course helps you understand yourself with greater kindness, and leaves you feeling more equipped, more connected and more hopeful about your healing journey.

Your healing journey doesn’t begin when you’re “fixed”. It begins the moment you start understanding yourself with compassion.

This course is not about forcing healing. And it isn’t about releasing trauma in ways that may make you feel anxious. It is definitely not about pushing beyond your limits. Instead, we will be moving slowly. Thoughtfully. Gently. We’ll be honoring your heart and nervous system. We’ll be prioritising choice, safety, curiosity and self-compassion. Healing isn’t a race. It’s a relationship you build with yourself, one gentle step at a time.

You don’t have to do this alone

Healing doesn’t require having all the answers. It simply asks us to take the next compassionate step. If you’re ready to better understand your nervous system, reconnect with yourself, and begin moving towards greater hope and peace, I’d be so honored to walk alongside you.
