Yoga for PTSD has been steadily growing here in So Yoga for PTSD has been steadily growing here in South Africa… But this week 😍 it landed in the research community!

My research was shortlisted for the WITS research day.

And I got to present my research to government hospital CEOs, epidemiologists, lecturers, non-profit leaders, doctors, PhD students & so many more!

The excitement from them? Incredible. It’s palpable! There are better ways to serve trauma survivors, to more efficiently use limited resources & increase access to mental health. I’m so honored to have a front row seat 🤩

Hi: 👋 It’s been a strange week to be a Christ Hi: 👋 It’s been a strange week to be a Christian on social media this week. Almost everyone on my feed, I disagree with. It’s hard.

My view of Jesus is mine and I really believe it’s anchored in good theology & my own search of the scriptures. But then why do I see so many behaving in ways I can’t align with? I don’t know.

What I do know is that this morning was a breath of beautifully fresh, air. I got to provide a guest lecture on trauma at the Jesuit Institute. Not only a remarkably beautiful home for Jesuit priests but a place of true openness, kindness & thoughtful contemplation. It reinforced that I’m not alone. And that I need to say something for those feeling the same as me.

So I’m going to say it loud, for anyone that needs to hear it:

- Hate speech is not “truth”.
- A lack of empathy is not “truth”.
- Othering those different to us is not “truth”.

I will never celebrate violence - in death, nor in speech. None of us should. Thank God I know You, Jesus. May my heart always align to you even if I stand alone.

(And if you need a soft space to land this week, @davidacbennett is providing kind and balanced dialogue).

1.) Gazans can’t simply “leave” Gaza. They a 1.) Gazans can’t simply “leave” Gaza. They are shut in.
2.) They’re being asked to walk through military lines to get aid. Which is not nearly enough.
3.) Live aid (ie bullets) are being used to disperse desperate crowds at aid sites.
3.) They’re being systematically and intentionally starved.
4.) They’re being charged 50% to withdraw any donations made to them by local money brokers. Basic necessities are in the region of ZAR 3 000.
5.) Who are “they”? Children. Newborns. Pregnant women. Moms.

Convinced yet that they are being systematically wiped out?

If you’ve never spoken up, speak up. If you’ve been speaking up, speak up. Don’t for a minute underestimate the importance of YOUR voice to bring this madness to an end.

You’re the God of the impossible. When science You’re the God of the impossible.

When science said - “sorry we don’t know why you keep losing your babies”, you said “watch Me.”

When hardened criminals said - “you’ll never recover from this”, you said “watch Me.”

When doctors said - “you’ll have fibromyalgia forever, there’s no cure”, you said “watch Me.”

When doors shut and those meant to support my career said “good luck, I can’t help you”, you said “watch Me.”

When teachers said “she’ll never achieve what she wants”, you said “watch Me.”

When those that could have opened up and eased paths for me in driving yoga for trauma forward, have said “nah, we’ll let her fight for this on her own”, you said “watch Me.”

When the world has told me all the reasons why the dreams YOU put in my heart couldn’t be lived out, you continued to say “watch Me.”

When the enemy whispered all my greatest fears into my ears in the dead of night, You reminded me that you’ll never let me go, “watch Me.”

You’re the God of the impossible. None of my achievements and successes have been easily won. I wear the scars. And yet - wasn’t that always the whole point? To be a living testimony of your Word: “in your faithfulness, You have afflicted me.” Psalm 119v75

May my life continue to point to the God of the impossible ✨

And may you, dear friend know, that if what you’re facing feels impossible? If all the odds are stacked against you? If no one can nor is willing to help? He’s the God for you. ☝️✨
